To reset a local Windows User Account Password follow the steps below:

  1. Boot into the Windows Install Drive then press shift + F10
  2. In CMD type: cd C:\
  3. Type and run: cd Windows
  4. Type and run : cd System32
  5. Type and run : ren utilman.exe utilman2exe
  6. Type and run : copy cmd.exe utilman.exe
  7. Boot the PC normally and click on the accessibility features icons on the lock screen. CMD will then open.
  8. In the CMD Window type and run the following: control userpasswords2
  9. In the windows that opens select the user and click Reset Password.
