How to Close a Not Responding Program in Windows 11

Modified on Fri, 1 Dec, 2023 at 12:06 PM

To close a program that is not responding follow the steps below:

  1. Open Task Manager: You can open Task Manager by pressing Ctrl + Shift + Esc or right-clicking the taskbar and selecting "Task Manager."
  2. Locate the not responding program: In the Processes tab, look for the program that is not responding.
  3. End the task: Right-click on the program and select "End task." This should close the program.
  4. Restart the computer: If the program does not close after following the above steps, the best solution is to restart the computer. This will close all programs and reset the system, which should resolve the issue.

Note: If you have unsaved work in the not responding program, you may lose it.
